This depends on the type of dental implants that you go for. Teeth in a Day with Dr. Taler offers a same-day implant placement, topped with a crown, so that you can take advantage of the benefits right away. Traditional dental implants require a step-by-step process that takes on average anywhere from ten weeks to six months (in full restoration cases) to complete. This is due to the process of osseointegration and the time it takes for the implant to bond with the human bone. However, we’re proud to offer a faster, more accurate treatment thanks to our in-office technology and use of Biohorizons quality implants. Many patients have remarked how their dental implants were well worth the wait!
Unfortunately, no. Children and young teens are not recommended for implants because their bodies and faces are still growing and developing. If you place an implant, it could damage or possibly stunt their growth, so it’s best to wait until they’re older. If your child or teen does lose a permanent/adult tooth, please consult with Dr. Taler to discuss possible treatments to complete their smile. As for dental implants, the odds of them qualifying for it are very slim depending on their age.
Yes! Dental implants are constructed from titanium, which is biocompatible with human bone and tissues. Through the process of osseointegration, the bone regenerates and weaves fibers around the implant to secure it. This brings about new growth that is good for the jawbone and can help it become stronger and more reliable. Dentures and dental bridges can’t trigger a reaction like that.
Absolutely! The first step you should take is to consult with Dr. Taler, in order to get a better picture of the current condition of your teeth and what your smile goals are. Many denture patients, unfortunately, have lost a large amount of jawbone due to the lack of teeth they have. Before getting dental implants, it may be more prudent to use a bone graft or other regeneration procedure, so that your implant has a higher chance of osseointegration.
This depends on your insurance provider and your particular plan. Some dental insurance providers will cover at least half of the procedure, while others may not cover any of it. Be sure to look over your coverage or speak to a representative from your dental insurance provider to check. The staff at our office can also help with your dental insurance to determine your coverage. Bring your most up-to-date insurance information with you when you come for your consultation and we’ll be happy to check on your coverage.
Immediately after implant surgery, it’s best to stick with soft foods and liquids to keep it easy on your implant site. Be sure not to suck through straws, as this can dislodge blood clots and damage your healing process. As your implant heals, you’ll be able to slowly switch over to solid foods again and can use your implant to its full potential.
